Yes. All Vision Youth volunteers who work directly with youth aged 14–17 are required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) before their first shift or program date. This is a mandatory requirement — not optional — and helps us maintain a safe environment for all participants.

No prior experience is required for most roles. We welcome enthusiastic volunteers who are patient, empathetic, and genuinely interested in supporting youth.

For the Outdoor Leadership Counselor role, First Aid and Outdoor Safety training is preferred but not required — we provide an onboarding and training session before the program begins. For event booth roles, a brief orientation will be provided on the day.

Yes. Volunteering with Vision Youth counts toward Ontario's mandatory 40-hour community involvement graduation requirement. We provide a signed verification letter confirming your total hours upon completion of your volunteer role.

Yes. Reference letters are available upon request for volunteers who have completed their commitment in good standing. Please give us at least two weeks' notice, and email hello@visionyouth.ca with your request and the application deadline.

Absolutely — and we encourage it. You can sign up for as many community event booth shifts as you like via the Google Sheet sign-up form. Each event you attend will be counted toward your total volunteer hours.
