In memory of Keith Yeung, founding board member who passed away July 6, 2022. Keith believed every young person deserves the chance to lead — this scholarship carries that belief forward. Recipients are featured on the Vision Youth website in his honour.

How to Apply

1 - Write your essay

Vision Youth founded in the Greater Toronto Area

  • 500 words or fewer — explain your financial situation, why you should be considered, and what you hope to gain from Vision Youth.

2 - Email your application

3 - Committee review

  • A panel including a board member, counselor, and advisor (and optionally a Keith Yeung family representative) reviews all applications.

4 - Interview (if shortlisted)

  • Shortlisted applicants may be invited to attend a brief interview before final selection.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Any applicant who is eligible for a Vision Youth program, demonstrates financial need, and has a strong interest in leadership development and personal growth. There is no minimum GPA or prior leadership experience required.

  • The scholarship is a $1,000 credit applied directly toward Vision Youth program fees — it is not paid out as cash. Two scholarships are available each year. The credit covers a portion of the combined Outdoor Leadership and Interpersonal Skills Development fees.

  • Yes. Recipients must enroll in both the Outdoor Leadership Program and the Interpersonal Skills Development Program. The credit is non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash. Scholarship availability and value may change year to year depending on funding.

  • Your essay (500 words or fewer) should address three things:

    • Why you are applying for financial assistance

    • Why you should be considered for the scholarship

    • What you hope to gain from the Vision Youth Leadership Program

    Write honestly and in your own voice — the committee is looking for genuine motivation, not polished writing.

  • A selection committee made up of a Vision Youth board member, a counselor, and a board-appointed advisor reviews all applications. A representative of Keith Yeung's family may also be included. Shortlisted applicants may be invited to a brief interview before the final decision.

  • Successful applicants are contacted directly by the Vision Youth team. If you are shortlisted for an interview, you will be notified first. All applicants who are not selected will also be informed once decisions are made.
